With StrumStages rich sampled guitar sounds and simple controls, you feel like you are playing a real guitar, yet every note, every chord, sounds perfect. You have to try it for yourself to experience the natural feeling of spontaneous play.

■ The secret of how StrumStage feels so real

- You grip the device like a real guitar and simply strum your fingers across the screen with abandon. It doesnt matter where you start a strum, just slide across the strings covering most of the screen. The interface is simple enough to use that theres no need to put it on a table and stare at the screen while you play. Just hold it naturally and without even looking at the screen you can play, just like a real musical instrument.

- You choose the chord you are playing by holding one or more of three huge buttons on the side of the screen, laid out thoughtfully so that you can pick up to 8 different chords without even looking at the screen.

- Each string sounds different depending on the speed of your strumming. Play fast and rough or strum a subtle melody.

- We recorded all the guitars string by string in a professional studio. To preserve the guitars natural sound as fully as possible the sounds are nearly unprocessed, with just a slight normalization applied.

■ Share your performances

- You can record and save your performances in high quality. Share them directly with friends by email, or with the whole world. Beginning or ending a little bit rough? Just trim the song a little bit.

- Twitter support lets you share a recording with all your followers.

- SoundCloud support lets you share with the world. If you set your (free) SoundCloud account to integrate with Facebook, your recordings will appear there as well.

We developed entirely on the iPhone 3G to make sure it feels right. Still, strumming very rapidly with effects and backing beats the response to your strumming feels much smoother on newer devices.
